Founded in January 2005, the Cell and Tissue Engineering Society of Slovenia (www.dctis.si) was established after a decade of dedicated efforts in the field of tissue engineering in Slovenia, culminating in the clinical application of autologous cartilage and bone cells. This field has developed rapidly and has become an important part of regenerative medicine worldwide, offering opportunities for effective restoration of normal tissue function. The main objective of the association is to promote links between Slovenian research and clinical institutions and individuals involved in cell or tissue engineering in various disciplines. The association firmly believes that solid cooperation between professionals in the fields of medicine, biotechnology, pharmacy and related sciences is essential to translate research results into tangible products for the benefit of society. In addition, the association follows professional progress in cell and tissue engineering at home and abroad, promotes the education and training of its members, supports scientific research projects and contributes to the development of Slovenian terminology in this field.
